Bones
After a seven-mile run in the Presidio with Alyssa, Angela and Courtney, I hit up the nearby Sports Basement on Saturday morning. Everything in the store was 20 percent off.
I kept an eye out for my beloved Ravenna 2, even though I’d just broke in a new pair a few days ago. Unfortunately, the Ravennas weren’t there. But I did try on another pair of Brooks — the Cascadia 6. I’d been eying these shoes for a few months, but since I hate running on trails I couldn’t justify the expense.
However, at $56 I’d be crazy not to give the shoes a try. I jogged a loop around the store, found them super-comfortable, spoke to a customer who was actually walking around in his Cascadias and forked over my debit card.
Who wants to hit the trails with me and my new shoes?
I also picked up a pair of SockGuy Head Case socks.
Fact: I have a thing for skulls. If it has a skull on it, I’m buying it.
Oh, I loved that scarf so much. I wonder where it is?

I have my first 2012 race in seven days, and I am totally out of shape.
This morning I had my third workout of 2012 — a 4.55-mile jog/walk around Lake Merced. I told myself I’d run the whole thing, and I left my Garmin at home, determined to just finish no matter the pace. I ran a little over two miles before I stopped. Walked a bit, ran, walked, sprinted to my car.
That last sprint felt great, but I do wonder if I’ll be able to run an entire 5K.

I’d join you on the trails if I were in the Bay. I’d really like to do more trails in the future, but I know it’ll take more planning to get out to the trail rather than just step out my door and begin my run. Plus, I really don’t want to go out on trails alone.
I don’t feel comfortable running trails on my own, either. I’m on the lookout for a trails partner or race :)
I love my cascadias. I bought the brown and blue ones but I love the greens ones you have just as much. I wear them to work all the time. I hope you liked running in them.
….and I hope your 3rd date went well
I’ve yet to wear my new trail shoes, argh. I’m dying to try them out!
They feel rather light and comfy when I run errands, so I’m wondering if I can take them to the track as well.
