Running Solo … on Match.com
Here are some of the professional race photos from last Sunday’s half-marathon in San Francisco. Considering I spent over $100 on the race, I don’t intend on buying them.
Well, I might buy one for my Match.com page.
Say you were trolling the Internet for handsome suitors, and you could only post one race picture of yourself sans makeup on your online dating profile. Would you go with:
Photo A. Legs look great, but you are obviously fading into a slow death;
Photo B. You look strong, but from this angle your legs look 3x larger than the rest of your body.
or Photo C. You look confident, eyes on the prize, Golden Gate Bridge in the background …
… but the stud running behind you may detract eyeballs from your moment of glory.
Seriously, though, does anyone know who that gorgeous specimen is? And is he single???

In other news: On Sunday, LMJS will host its summer potluck at 10 a.m. in Montclair Park in Oakland. Members will get to work up an appetite with either a 4- or 6-mile run. And I will lead the short run!
I have a 14-15 mile run tomorrow, so I hope everyone will forgive me if I’m a slow poke the next morning. Plus I kind of blow when it comes to trail running.
Anyway, I am very excited to show off my new shoes, which I will discuss in a future post. Until then, here’s a sneak peek:
Can you guess what they are?
Hint: They are not Mizunos. Yes, I finally strayed from my beloved Alchemys … I had to cut the cord.
I’m not sure how I feel about these puppies yet. Took them on a 5-mile spin around Lake Merced last night, and they feel weird. Not painful, not bothersome, just … weird.
Oh, and I am wearing different insoles, too, which probably furthers that feeling of making out with a complete stranger. Running, dating — are they really so different?

I like the third one. You are on match.com? Thats where I met my husband :)
Hey Deidra — I didn’t know you married! We need to catch up.
Yup, I’ve been on Match for ~10 months. It’s been hit or miss — I’ve met some nice guys and some not-so-nice guys. Took a break after a bad breakup. Just got back on the wagon.
I feel like everyone has a success story with online dating, so I’m optimistic, though I am also meeting guys through other resources, too :)
He’s hot. But with legs that long, why the heck isn’t he running faster? I like the first pic the best. no distracting men, and you look fierce, not fading
Hey Rose! I think this guy started in a later corral than me. I checked his bib on the results page (yeah, I know, creepy), and he finished like 6-7 min faster than I did.
I’m feeling good about the first pic too. :)
Hi Sesa! I just found your blog. :)
I think that any race pic where you don’t look like you’re smelling something nasty or having a stroke is a good pic. (I kind of want to do a post that’s all race pics where I’ve got some horrible expression going on…) These are all pretty good!
Hey, Angela! Solid advice.
I like going through awful race pics, too. They’re always good for a laugh. I almost used one for a Christmas card!
